Film Premiere!

Updated: May 31, 2022

After months of work on the project, it was really exciting to finally premiere our film about Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth this week.

We were commissioned by Community Rail Lancashire to make an animated film about 'Miss Rachel' with young people from Year 6 at Padiham Green C of E Primary School.

The class took inspiration from the amazing collection at Gawthorpe Textiles Collection that she established, on a trip to National Trust Gawthorpe Hall facilitated by Lancashire County Council’s ‘Heritage Learning Lancashire’ team.

Artist Cath Ford worked with the class over several sessions in school, to develop artwork for the film as well helping each child gain confidence in their own creativity. The animation includes archive photos, and footage courtesy of North West Film Archive.

We’re really proud of the finished film, and hope it encourages people to discover more about Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth and her continuing legacy. It was premiered today at Padiham Green, as part of Community Rail Week.

After a few short speaches, the class and selected guests watched the premiere of the film, before it was made live so it can be watched online and shared.

The school really welcomed us all, with the young people practising their hosting skills by giving tours of the building, and providing refreshments after the screening.

We also developed a poster, which is currently on display at Rose Grove railway station, with the school class being given a copy too.
